What is the mission of Sri Veda Dharmashala (SVDS)?
Sri Veda Dharmashala (SVDS) was created to preserve and promote the teachings of Sanatana Dharma among future generations in the U.S. Our mission is to provide spiritual guidance, religious services, and resources to help families stay connected to dharmic traditions, fostering a sincere appreciation and practice of Hindu values across generations.
What types of spiritual services does SVDS offer?
SVDS offers a full range of priest services aligned with Sanatana Dharma, including rituals like housewarmings (Grihapravesham), naming ceremonies (Namakarana), weddings, Shanti pujas, and Sathabhishekam celebrations. We also assist families during last rites, from cremation ceremonies to thirteenth-day rituals like Pitru Yagna and Anna Dana.
Why is performing Pitru Yagna and last rites emphasized by SVDS?
Following dharmic rites for departed ancestors is a vital part of Sanatana Dharma. SVDS emphasizes these practices to help families honor their lineage, avoid karmic disturbances, and ensure spiritual continuity. Concerns like delays in marriage, domestic issues, and emotional unrest are often linked, according to tradition, to the neglect of Pitru Yagna. We provide guidance and support to maintain these important customs, especially for families in the U.S.
How does SVDS support future generations in learning Sanatana Dharma?
SVDS continues to operate a Sunday School dedicated to teaching children and young adults the principles, stories, and practices of Sanatana Dharma. Through classes, discussions, and cultural activities, we aim to build strong foundations so that future generations develop a sincere understanding and commitment to dharmic living.
What are the future plans for Sri Veda Dharmashala?
SVDS plans to formalize operations by establishing the Sri Balaji Temple. This sacred space will serve as a spiritual hub for prayer, community events, and the celebration of major Hindu festivals. Our goal is to create a sanctified environment where devotees can offer prayers for global peace and stay deeply rooted in their dharmic heritage.
